Pietro D’Urso has been a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Salford Royal Hospital since 2014.
Pietro completed his training in Neurosurgery in Italy and London and spent a year for clinical research in the prestigious Mayo Clinic, USA.
He is involved in training and teaching and is the author of numerous publications in international Journals.
Pietro is also the author of Neurosurgical book chapters and acts as a reviewer for international Neurosurgical Journals, including World Neurosurgery, Surgical Neurology International and British Journal of Neurosurgery.
He routinely manages Neurosurgical conditions including brain tumours, degenerative spine, disc protrusions, neck pain, low back pain and sciatica, cervical spine stenosis, lumbar spine stenosis, head trauma, brain haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, Chiari Malformation.
Pietro provides specialist care for patients with benign and malignant brain tumours, including astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, glioblastomas, ependymomas, brain metastases, meningiomas, cavernomas, hemangioblastomas, brain cysts, pineal cysts and pineal tumours.
He specialises in awake craniotomies with brain mapping, brain tumour resections with fluorescence and intraoperative ultrasounds techniques, intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring, neuro-navigation, minimally invasive cranial surgery, cranial endoscopy and keyhole surgery.
